Alameda Sangha is based in Alameda, CA and meets via Zoom, Sunday evenings from 7 to 8:30pm PT. We practice mindfulness meditation, primarily in the Theravada tradition. The time is usually divided into three 30-minute segments: sitting meditation, a dharma talk, and general discussion. We are dedicated to making a space where all people can meditate and explore the dharma; you need not be Buddhist, nor seeking to become Buddhist, to participate. Deaf Community Program
Alameda Sangha welcomes those whose primary mode of communication is American Sign Language (ASL). Before your first meeting with us, email [email protected] so we can help meet your needs.
In the Buddhist tradition, when interpreters are present, all members practice generosity and offer donations (dana) to express our gratitude to them. |
Generosity
Mindful generosity is an important part of our Buddhist practice. There is no fee to attend; we use dana, or generous giving, to express thanks to teachers and ASL interpreters each week. This challenges us to connect to feelings of compassion and letting go and helps us deepen our practice.
With online meetings, members offer dana directly to the teacher and interpreters, using links provided each week. |
ParticipateOur Sangha exists due to the generosity of members who contribute their time, skills and energy. We welcome new volunteers. If you want to help our Sangha thrive, email [email protected]
Guiding teachers Deb Kerr and Rebecca Dixon provide Alameda Sangha with spiritual direction and guidance. |
